Rites Held for Gail Holaday, 66

The funeral service for W. Gail Holaday, 66, of Anita, was held Monday, May 20, 1996, at 1:30 p.m. at the Anita United Congregational Church of Christ.  Mr. Holaday passed away Wednesday evening, May 15 at his home in rural Anita.

Officiating at the service was the Rev. Nancy Jensen.  Music was provided by Rhoda Kelloway, organist, masonic services were also performed.  Pallbearers were Mike Cullen, William Behnken, Kenneth Karstens, Richard Groves, Dwight Bower, and Glen Dinkla.  Internment was in the Massena Center Cemetery.  

Mullen Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Wayland Gail Holaday was born in Massena Township of Cass County, IA, on August 12, 1929 the son of Clifford Arthur and Reba King Holaday.  He grew up in Cass County where he attended rural school and then Cumberland High School where he graduated in 1947.  He then attended radio engineering school for one year and was employed at Creston Radio as an engineer.  He then returned to Cass County where he had farmed for over 45 years.  He had been a member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church in rural Cass County; and had been a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Massena.

Surviving are his mother, Reba Holaday of Anita; three brothers, Henry Holaday and wife Mildred of Anita, Varel Holaday and wife Shirley of Lewis and Gary Holaday and wife Anna of Massena; three sisters, Dorothy Bonnesen and husband Dallas of Atlantic, Marjorie Eblen and husband Richad of Johnston and Ruth Hellyer of Des Moines; nieces and nephews.  Also by three stepchildren, Patrick Lanteri of Minneapolis, MN, Keith Harvey of Marne and Jolene Lange of Keokuk, IA.

Preceding him in death was his father and an infant brother, Byron.
